The NHL was formed in 1917 on November 6th. The original 4 teams were the Toronto Hockey Club, Montreal Canadiens, Montreal Wanderers, And the Ottawa Senators But however the Montreal Wanderers now don’t exist
This All-Star game was a bit different than your modern day All-Star game because they picked All-Stars to face the reigning champs in this case the Toronto Hockey Club. Toronto ended up winning 7-3. It was on February 14th, 1934.
The original six teams started in 1942-43 season and the teams were, Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks, Boston Bruins, and the New York Rangers.

In 1967 the NHL got 6 new teams which were the California Seals, the Los Angeles Kings, the Minnesota North Stars, the Philadelphia Flyers, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the St. Louis Blues.
On February 7th 1976 a world record was set. Darryl Sittler scored 10 points by netting 6 goals
and
assisting on 4 other goals. They ended up beating the Boston Bruins. That night he broke the record of most
points in a game which was set by Maurice “Rocket” Richard who had 8 Darryl beat this record by 2 points.
This record is still unbroken 39,000 games later.
Manon Rhéaume was the first ever female NHL player. She played for the Tampa Bay Lightning as their goalie. She played during the 1992-93 season. She only got to play for 40 minutes and during the preseason but she was still the first and only female to play in the NHL.
On October 12, 2016 the first night of the NHL’s 100th season, The Toronto Maple Leafs rookie Auston Matthews
got not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 goals in his NHL debut.
In 2016 The NHL Expanded to 31 teams adding the Vegas Golden Knights.They got a really good goalie named Marc-Andre
Fleury from the Pittsburgh Penguins.
